On camera flash usually blows out too much character but in this situation, gives a quirky look. The contrast between the boys' faces and expressions is good.

Crop some off the top; just leaving enough to imply this is a special event, to tweak the mind.
This might be an interesting one to introduce some radial blur to add to 'circus'y idea.

Nice colors and an interesting DOF Remember that centering subjects in your frame is not always the most interesting. Rule of thirds

Yes, but I didn't use any on camera flash. They are centered there to be somewhat framed by the lights in the back. without those lights it wouldn't work
