What's new

Love And Desire

FYI, idc about how much time I spend in editing, I don't use a tablet, I didn't use light room or its "clafity" filter, I didn't add in any new contrast only brought out what was already there, the only thing that I feel like I'm on the same page as all of you is the halo and cut off limbs, which have made me came to not like this photo so much, but the general public who don't seem to notice this thinks its coo... I've never taken a photography class tho and have only been doing photography for 2 years now, but digital art for 7, I see a lot of small complaints that could be fixed by probably taking a class or reading a book to learn the basics.

basically im just shooting on auto with jpg (not raw, i prolly should huh) with 3 lights on a green screen. Limbs get cut off because the spot I shoot in, a garage is pretty tiny and my only lens is a 35mm or 50 but im not gonna bring a 50 in there. and the halos like CA said i should have cut the background out and applied it over the pic after doin what i do.

although i want to edit this post to say, I DO AGREE if i could get more things right during the shot, would be less editing errors.

Graham,

I've noticed your work and I think you're on the brink of having a pretty good commercial eye, just a few tips to push you a bit further:

HDR, A good HDR will not have the tell-tale signs of HDR (halos, burnt-out images). These aren't too badly burnt, but there are halos. I keep my HDR's gentle, and I use the shadow / highlight function when the HDR is just simply too much. And if I need to go a bit harder with the HDR, I always cut out the subject from the background to avoid halos.

Secondly, I would recommend using a technique called 'carving'. A good post-processor will know what this is. It's how to make the skin wrap better, and shape the light how you want it. The rule of thumb: Build contrast in post, not in camera.

Anyway, good luck!

Listen to this man.
