macro filter set?

does anyone have a macro filter set? how do you like them?? i just ordered some yesterday and i hope it was worth the 15.00.

That's about all it's worth - they're a cheap way to get into macro & close-up work, but you have to remember that at that price, they're not going to be terribly well made. Expect significant quality degradation, especially toward the edges. They will do fine for now as long as you keep your subject in the center.

I've got a set, I don't use them often, but I don't shoot a lot of macro or close up.

As mentioned, they to tend to degrade the image a fair bit as you get to the edges, but with a lot of close up photography, you are working with very shallow DOF, so you may not be concerned with the sharpness of the edges as they won't be in focus anyway.

You can even stack these filters for greater magnification, but you also compound the problems.

They are fun to play with, and certainly a cheaper option than a true macro lens. If you find that you really like using them, then consider upgrading. If you don't use them much, then you didn't waste $500 on a macro lens.

+1 to what tirediron said, though if you're using a crop sensor you might get a little more luck since a little less of the edge of the glass will be visable. However for future reference if you're after better quality macro filters/close up lens attachments/diopters then consider the Raynox series (eg the DCR250) as well as the canon 500D (yes its the name for a camera and a close up lens)
