Looking for some C and C on a few photos of a recent flood that has hit my city.

I ran into a couple of hurdles when trying to capture these. I needed to take this in mid-day light on an overcast day. I was trying to get out for two days prior, but couldn't find the time with a newborn baby in our house. I needed to get out and take these while I had a moment, and before the water flow went down, so this is the best I could do without having optimal conditions.

Also, I froze every appendage in my body to get these shots. It was bitterly cold and didn't give me much desire to setup properly.

Still, the photos turned out ok in my opinion, but not great. What would you have done differently?

They all seem journalistic/factual as opposed to artistic, although with the cold I can see not wanting to take a lot of time to explore different angles, etc.

Hope that your family & your home stay dry over there! That flooding sounds bad this year.

#1 - The near-side waterline looks almost artificial, like it and the shoreline aren't really touching. I don't know what it is, but think maybe you've got a slower shutter going so the flow is "smoothed out". Maybe a faster shutter to freeze the flow would make it more realistic. I'm also thinking that a shot closer to the bridge might have had more potential - assuming you could get there safely, of course.

#2 - I'm not sure what, if anything, is in focus. I do find having the nearby posts out of focus doesn't work for me.

#3 - The most intriguing of the bunch for me, what with the curbs disappearing into the water. Seems to flat, though. Maybe zoom in tighter to the last curbs even though you may lose the closer ones?

There isn't a lot here that tells someone unfamiliar with the area how deep the water is. Good journalism photography needs to tell the story in just a couple of images. Looks for scenes that really show the water somewhere it shouldn't be; against a house/building, or a parking lot with partially submerged cars.
