Maternity shot my my wife. We've been meaning to get some shots done but just hadn't gotten around to it yet. Then I was testing and packing my gear on Friday night, for a gig on Saturday, and we did an impromptu shoot and this is what I came up with.

Looks like one light

That's right. One light to camera right and slightly behind the subject.
The light was a 430EX on a light stand with a shoot through umbrella, triggered with a cactus radio trigger. I could have made it a bit softer by setting the flash head's zoom wider, but it was giving me too much spill, so i narrowed the beam. This is where a softbox is better than an umbrella but I had this gear out and not my studio lights with softbox.

Nicely done imo in terms of composition and the lighting. Works well as a b&w.
