Thank for the comments, you are right for the 9, i didn't post the good version. But i'm not on the good computer now, I'll post the good one later.

To rifleman, I'm sorry but you are very rude. She's a teen and she holds the title of miss teen qc. She wants photography for his portfolio and, she looks like a teen for me. She is not overposing. She do not make porn star faces. Do you see any g-string, boobs or anything sexual, no!

Not being rude. Being candid and speaking from experience. As said, experience is as a father and a pageant judge. Showing off butt in suggestive pose with tight jeans, prostitute type boots, too much eye makeup, etc. In my opinion, she is way overposing. Facial expressions are very suggestive. This is not a wholesome image for a teen.
I would be rude to not be honest. I would be embarrassed to have a teen daughter with that image.
Sorry we can't agree.

You seem totally out of the loop to be giving this kind of critique. The only pose I can see that *might* not be totally appropriate for Miss Teen Quebec *might* be #5 but for a regular teen model, it's pretty normal.
The dress, facial expressions, make up, are all standard and not suggestive.

As for the photos, I'm sure you can see that 12 needed better lighting. Other than that, pretty good.

I don't think there is anything age inappropriate here. It's actually pretty conservative for a modern teenage girl IMO. I have a sister who is 17, I live close to two high schools and at lunch time I work out at a health club that is next to a catholic high school. Believe me, most girls are wearing clothes that are just as tight and more revealing.
Is it right, is it OK? I don't know.
Would I want my daughter dressing like that...maybe not.

I think the photography here is sound...but she doesn't look fully comfortable in front of the lens...which is often to be expected from a young and/or inexperienced model.

Mike, you agree with me. You wouldn't want your daughter to dress like that.
The subject of the photos wants a portfolio. I can't imagine where those photos could be presented that would further her in a respectable career. It was the responsibility of the photographer to present the girl in a manner that would build a portfolio that would present her in a more respectable way.
I don't know the girl and am only reacting to what I see. My "porn star" comment is only reflective of how the pictures affected me. And I stand by that comment.
Actually, I feel sorry for the girl.
Regardless of futher comments, I won't respond to this thread anymore.

Yes the client is very happy. And I'm learning, it's the important. I'm only 19years old, Start photo last years. So i'm always happy to get some good result. Thats true, she was very shy. A really nice girl, very sweet.

Mike, you agree with me. You wouldn't want your daughter to dress like that.
Maybe...but I'd be hard pressed to find any parent who actually approves of the way their teenage kids dress...especially daughters. Compared to just about every other teenager I've seen, I have no problems with the way this one is dressed...like I said, it's actually rather conservative from what I can tell.

I can't imagine where those photos could be presented that would further her in a respectable career.
These don't look much different than anything you'd see in an fashion magazine (in terms of posing & clothing)...including teen focused magazines. Something like Cosmo is practically pornographic compared to these shots.
So I really have to disagree that these 'types' of photos would hurt or hinder a teenager's modeling career. (obvious lack of experience non withstanding).

As further proof, do an image search for 'Senior Photos'. Most of what I've seen, (often from from top photographers) could be considered more suggestive that these.

I think that this is a topic worthy of discussion, but to everyone....please don't let you comments become personal attack toward other members. We are all entitled to our opinions

The ultimate question is: IS THE CLIENT HAPPY?

For the purposes of this thread AND of the forum, I totally disagree.

Clients are usually not in the know with what makes a good image. The point of the forum here is to help better people's photography skills (amongst other things).

I've done some sessions for people who have loved the images, even though I find flaws in them. I have to learn from these flaws and make it better next time around. They are extatic about the images, have printed and put them up, and said good referrals words to others... but there are still issues with the images.

Is the client happy? Yes. Is that the ultimate question? No. Not for here. For your business, maybe. But again, if I want to progress, do bigger and better things, I need to get better

Rifleman1776 simply comes from a more conservative part of the world, or maybe just a more conservative family, where this type of photography is considered wrong for someone who is 16-17.

Nothing wrong with that, just different set of values.

From the reactions I have seen on this thread, these values are a big minority here and they are also not my values. But they are his.

There are things that are acceptable to society that are not always acceptable for everyone IN the society. Its what makes the world go round.

Some may think that photos like that promote hyper sexualisation of children. I personally think that the fashion industry promotes eating disorders, as does Barbie.

What was this thread about? :)

Thank you bigtwinky for that great comment.

god I feel sorry for your kids Rifleman..
