This is my first post
This is my husband. He is always playing with his camera and spends a lot of time in photo forums especially here. So I took his picture today and he helped me make it like this. I thought it would be fun to post a picture here sometimes. I'm not interested in it like he is but maybe someday his photography passion will rub off on me.

Yes its fun sometimes.. I like to take pictures of my kids mostly. He says that's boring...

I think everyone has failed to see this is a very well exposed, lit and composed photograph. There is a bit of clutter which was an easy fix. I think she has done a marvelous capture on a subject in his natural setting. It is a photograph and should be judged on its artistic merit before one makes comment to what they think it is, or anything else. Mrs. Wife should be encouraged to continue working on her creative side. Telling her it is creepy serves no purpose other than to insult her attempt at artisitic exploration.

For the record. I liked your original photo. Very surreal. I was just having some fun with the photo and your well built husband. In no way did i have any intent of supplanting your artistic vision.

And? Her photos are OK to edit. Wheres the problem with showing a different take on it? I never even said there were any problems with her original photo did I?

I wasn't making an accusation, merely pointing out my original context...judging on the original intent first, making suggestions second...it's just a personal peeve of mine that we tend to make our own photos of other's work before commenting on what they seemed to be trying to accomplish. I am far less snitty about this with more accomplished photographers than I am with newbies.

I am far less snitty about this with more accomplished photographers than I am with newbies.

Dude. It was just a fun crop. There wasnt really anything else for me to say that hadnt already been said about the photo. Instead of just repeating the previous posts, i did something a little different with it. And honestly, the OPs opinion on it is all that matters so... Ill see how that goes.

How people respond to someone's work is just as valid as any other form if critique.

My comment was simple, but it was genuine. The picture left me feeling that the setting was creepy. We have a man naked of chest sitting amongst a bunch of random stuff with very dramatic lighting that is fairly dark and stark.

It's creepy. To me, anyway.

Being creepy is neither good nor bad. If the artist intended creepy, then she got what she intended at least as far as I'm concerned. If not, then she and I did not connect exactly as she intended. That could be because of her execution, or it could be because of my interpretation.

To point a finer point on this... I didn't say her picture was crap. I said it was CREEPY. Very big difference.
