My First Photo

Hi, everyone. I'm new to the forums and photography. I purchased a DSLR a year or so ago and have been snapping photos of my kids ever since. I took this one a few weeks ago and would love some feedback. I used PSE to boos the color slightly but that's the only editing I did.

ETA: this obviously isn't the first photo I've taken... just the first I've shared here

Not too bad! I might crop off a small amount on the left side, eliminating the bolt head and the knot in the wood...those two "black dots" kind of compete, and eliminating them would tighten up the composition, and would make the left-most 2x4 piece mirror the one on the right hand side of the photo, over by sister. If there is a nit to pick, it's that their gaze seems diverted....he on you and the camera, she on something behind you, over your shoulder. Skin tones and colors look very pleasing. Camera height is pretty good--you've got the kids pretty close to camera-eye-level!!!
