She just had to dress up and come over for Grandpa Beav, of course I had to attend her tea party with elmo, and a couple other furry friends. I couldn't keep that crown straight for nothing. Direction always wanted and needed. I am not sure but there are some lose hair, should I get that out?

both are nice and sharp, well-lit and exposed but #1 looks natural and sweet.
IMO, #2 has a very forced smile.

I have some but those are for me. Sorry kids floating in space doesn't work for you. Actually, if you take a little time to look at the image, the background is blue denim. I stopped using black a few months ago by the direction from experts on here. I have yet to graduate to a more sophisticated background as my skill level and light equipment is sub par. This was a single SB600 flash with a 5500K bulb in front of it to reduce druggy eyes. Thank you for the comments sir. Additionally, I am studying light from a book and trying to gain comprehension with what I am reading. @tirediron has been spoon feeding me, thankfully.

@jcdeboever I suspected your single LED was somewhere in this shot. I've watched you advance in technique using it to the point that I suspect you could now give the "experts" a tip or two. You are a prime example of why photography can be fun. You shoot what you want, how you want and when you want with no real concern as to approval, other than to glean any information which might make you better.

Thank you sir. My next purchase is a strobe which would eliminate the LED. @Derrel gave me the 100W LED suggestion some time as a way to help with the eyes. I went into a local studio to check out their setup and I like that the strobe has a modeling lamp. The strobes eliminate the dilated pupils I am told. I like the umbrellas as a way to broadcast the light out efficiently. So, my next purchase is the strobe with a professional looking back drop. Then I will get some sort of softbox. Probably will make my own beauty dish. Add a hair light. Then another strobe.

I really tried to duplicate your one light LED setup, because of the simplicity but only had limited success. Finally gave up and went back to strobes, umbrellas and wireless triggers.

Believe me, there was a lot of fiddle farting around with this LED light. When I changed the bulbs in the ceiling fixtures is when it came together. The bulbs where sitting there in a box (came with the house) and I only noticed it when I had to change a bulb as the light was totally different, so I used the whole box and replaced them all. For this shot I used a SB600/umbrella, 100W LED below it. 1/2 power on SB600. My studio flowers (separate room in basement), I use the LED combined with the 5500K T80 lights in ceiling.

For a more natural smile you need to get a good joke book.
She is as cute as a button! And now I want to see some photos of that tea party, that would be really cute.

As for the hairs. I would leave them, especially in #1, since it has a behind the scenes feel. And if you don't mind, I would like to try a edit on #2 just for the heck of it. Is that okay?
