So, most of you know about the accident I had on Nov. 1st. Recovery has taken longer than I'd expected because, it turns out, I *did* fracture two ribs in the process, although the ER told me nothing was broken. So, I spent the first three weeks doing things a person with fractured ribs probably shouldn't do, and telling myself to just suck it up when it hurt, thinking I just had some inflammation.
My knee is also still hurting some, but I'm still waiting to get an MRI scheduled.

Anyway--the hunt for a new car has also been slower than I'd like. I *hate* shopping for cars, just hate it. Fortunately, my sister actually enjoys it, so she did most of the legwork. In the end, the wait was worth it, because I got a pretty sweet deal. Especially when you consider that the wrecked car, a 1997 Toyota Camry, had been GIVEN to me by my brother.

I was just looking for something similar, Toyota or Honda, maybe a small crossover type vehicle--and hoping to maybe find a car that was made in THIS century. :D
I never expected to end up with what I bought, but I absolutely love it!

May I present: (taken with cell phone)
My 2004 Sebring LX...Convertible!

This was just such a great deal: The car has had two owners. The first was a rental car company; the second, an elderly gentleman who took great care of it and drove it to the grocery store and the bank once in a while--in the seven years he had it, he put just under 25K on it. As a result, it's almost 10 years old, but has only 72K miles on it.

The sad part is that the reason it was being sold is that the gentleman died a few months ago, and had absolutely NO family. All his belongings ended up being given to the manager of the apartment complex where he lived and she was selling the car and a few other things of his.

I've never had a convertible before! The only problem is that now I have an even GREATER urge to just hop in the car and drive south, until it gets warm enough to put the top down! :D

Nice car and the convertible is a plus. Now all you have to do is take me with you lol ;-). Seriously though enjoy your new car and hope you don't have to endure pain too much longer.

Good-looking car! I've owned several Chrysler/Plymouth vehicles over the decades. Usually pretty reliable.

I broke three ribs once and the pain wasn't too much as long as I didn't move around and didn't breath.

Nice car.

Glad you're feeling better and getting moving again.

Go south as far as you want, as long as you're back next Monday ;)

I've also had a few Chrysler products with little to no problems associated with them. The last was a 2000 Dodge Durango I traded in 2012 and it was still in good shape just starting to show its age. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Great looking car, Sharon, and I bet you look hot behind the wheel, too!

Glad you're doing better, hon.:

Yes, but you don't laugh much and that probably helped quite a bit!

Nice car; hope you have many carefree miles in it.

nice!

Hmm do those hoods on convertibles come off? So that you can wash them and the like? Because I'm thinking that would make one neat hide for the birds if you swapped that fabric hood for a camoflage pattern :)

Nice looking car, congrats!

Thanks, all!

I had a black Sebring (not convertible) and really liked it--unfortunately, I didn't have it very long before someone decided to occupy the same space as my car and crunched it up between their car (a great big Bonneville-type car) and one of those concrete barriers. I'm hoping for a far, far better run in this one!

Haha, that is PRECISELY right! I thought I was doing pretty well; then I sneezed on Tuesday night and missed the next two days of work because of the pain. But as long as I don't sneeze again, I'm pretty much on the mend now.

I'm glad to hear you and Derrel both say good things about Chrysler. I didn't have my other Sebring long enough to know much about reliability and I'm just NOT a car person.

Oh, and no worries--I'll make a quick trip back next Monday just for you! ;-)

Ha! I wish!! I'm afraid I'm about at that age where people see you behind the wheel of a convertible and wonder why on earth that old lady has such a sweet car. :lmao:

I'd like to nominate Overread for Best Idea of the Year!! That is SUCH a great idea! It probably doesn't come off for washing (I wish it did, because it's nasty and needs a really good scrubbing--but that what I had boys for!), but that's okay. I'm sure one of my redneck buddies around here would be happy to just paint it Camo for me!

Wait until next fall, let some leaves fall on it, spray-paint over the leaves with black, brown, and green paint. Let paint dry, wash the leaves off. Simple as it gets ;)
