My other half has been teasing me all week with texts telling me about the porcupine she was seeing in a local park while I was at work. I leave home in the dark and get home after dark, so I went to see for myself when I got my first opportunity.

I had to actually back up so the 170-500mm lens would focus. I was 10-15 ft away. If you are familiar with them, you know they try to keep their back and quills toward you, so I had to keep circling it when it was on the ground.

@ZombiesniperJr Yes sir, thank you. Our dog and former dogs have been quilled more than once. Not fun trying to remove them from a scared and hurting pet.

But i am guessing this one is used to people? and my guess is that if this was taken in that local park that it most likely quilled a couple of dogs

I think that was my 4th time photographing one. I usually carry a camera with me when I get out. He was back in his usual tree again today.
