The photos are very nice. Hmm...all I recall during travelling through Iowa on my way to see the wife's family in Minnesota were endless cornfields and the night lit up by fireflies. Seriously, that looks like a beautiful area. Thanks for sharing.

I like your pictures a lot, but you could really benefit from some post processing software. Try Adobe lightroom, there's a free trial on their site!

What edits did you do?

Both these I tone mapped a tiny bit.

#1 I bumped the saturation in the greens a bit and removed the saturation from the sidewalk.

#2 Spent some time manually working the exposure along the fence since it makes an excellent leading line for the eye. Also a bit of tone mapping for more contrast and depth.
