Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
1) I had the first of three dental appointments today for a root canal. It's the second root canal I've needed. So far. My teeth suck. Not only does it stress me out because of the physical aspects of getting a root canal, but even after it's over, I will have the pain of paying for the root canal. And I don't make a lot of money, especially in the summer because I'm not teaching, so it's going to take several months to get rid of the bill from this.

2) I came home from the root canal to find a message from Citibank. I call back to find that my debit card number has been involved in a 'compromise' today that has already made its way to the DA's office (I wonder if it was my office! Because I think it happened at a gas station in their jurisdiction. Of course this happens just two days after my last day there.) At least they caught it early, nothing has been taken from my account, and I'm getting a new card tomorrow. Still, it's not really what I needed after a root canal.

3) I'm sad about the end of my internship at the DA's office. I loved working there and they don't hire paralegals, so I can't get a job there. Having serious withdrawal since my last day on Wednesday.

4) I haven't had a good photo outing in months!!!

5) I have to teach for 4.5 hours tomorrow morning!

There are at least a few bits of silver lining:

-My semester is almost over, which means I'm almost done with grading essays.

-A few days ago, a former student who is now a fellow classmate in my CrimLaw class brought me a bottled Starbucks drink as a thank you for helping him out with an assignment. It was a very nice gesture, though I don't actually like bottled Starbucks drinks. Too sweet. I've just learned, however, that they go very well with vodka.

-the Novocaine hasn't completely worn off yet, so my tooth isn't screaming yet. I suppose the vodka might help with the transition, though.

So I'm in need of some virtual hugs. I got some literal hugs from my boyfriend earlier, but he's got a work thing to go to, and there's always my cats, but they are fickle. And you TPF folks give good hugs :

:hug::

Now dope up on some of that novocaine with a bottle of vodka and that root canal won't hurt anymore, and you'll be seeing the DA again in no time!

Thanks! I agree about the wine and chocolate, although tonight I'm going to have to settle with beer and ice cream ;)

Awwww, shoot, this all sounds so dreary. :-(

Root canals are seldom fun. I've had a few over the years, always a mood-killer.

I hope things take on a more positive aspect soon for you. I really, really do. Chin up!

The dentist did not give you a prescription for pain killers (Vicodin or Norco)?

Shame on him!

Thanks, Derrel! I had a root canal a few years ago, so intellectually I understand that the reality of it is not as bad as the anticipation. My imagination always makes things worse, though, and I end up being stressed about it for days before each appointment (next stage is in 2 weeks.)

The dentist always kinda freaks me out more than it should. Once when I was a kid, maybe 8 or 9, my dentist filled a cavity without Novocaine ("It's just a small one, it won't take long!") and I think that traumatized me enough that I'm forever in fear of dentists. I even get nervous about cleanings! I'm going to need to take my wisdom teeth out, probably later this year. I'm nearly catatonic over that one!

I hope your day goes better.

He offered, but I didn't take the prescription. I don't like taking anything unless I absolutely have to, and I don't think I'll need anything stronger than Advil for this. My tooth had been hurting for a couple of weeks due to an infection, so when I first saw him, he prescribed antibiotics to kill the infection before he did the root canal. I hadn't taken antibiotics for about 11-12 years before this. They definitely helped and my tooth stopped hurting, but of course he still needs to do the work. It will be sore for sure, but some Advil, some ice cream, and maybe a little Ambesol should do the trick.

.. my dentist filled a cavity without Novocaine ..
Oh, yes, I remember those days. We never had novocaine.

Now that I think about it, the dentist was medicated. He would go out into the parking lot behind his office and sit in his car until the next victim ..err.. patient was ready. He was always in a good mood, though.
