So i took this photo downtown recently and I need to know if its any good. I know its not incredible subject matter but I think it's interesting.

'Good' of course is purely subjective. I like it, but then I also shoot a lot of stuff like this. I think it could be improved a little though; a slight saturation boost might help, and I think a slightly different crop; one that either includes all of, or removes all of the FD connection just below the brick sill. I would also try and get it a little more off centre.

First off, I like the subject matter, so we'll get that off the table. I like the whole picture, but I'm a little troubled by the bottom. I'm assuming that's a fire hose connector, but whatever I'd like to see it cropped out or fully included.
I like the colors including the mold/mildew on the left side.
Overall, good job.

Edit: Tirediron and I must have been typing at the same time.

yeah the fd hook up bothers me as well I wish I captured the whole thing in the shot but I didnt. :(

I like the shot. You found some nice lines and textures.
I guess what I think could improve the shot is.....
1. The shot doesn't seem sharp enough for me. You have all these cool textures going on like the rust, brick and moss, but I don't really feel them coming through the shot.
2. It doesn't feel like you took the shot straight on. Were you standing directly in front of the door? It feels like you were standing to the right a little? It could be an optical illusion.
Keep shooting!!

good color/texture, looks a bit underexposed or it might just be the dull lighting

I like the shot and don't find it to be underexposed. I like the sharpness, textures, and colors.

However, I think you should have framed to either put the fire hose thingy (or whatever it is) into the photo, patched it out, or something along that line. The viewers focus should be on the door and the colors and textures around the door, however, my eye keeps wanting to dart to the red disc.

Yeah I see that too. I must have been standing just to the right of it. Rookie mistake! :meh:

I thought it was a great subject! I do agree however that it should be a little bit sharper so the textures come out more... :) Great shot
