New guy in Michigan

Hi all. I have been using small point and shoots and my iPhone for all my picture taking for quite a while and decided I'd try some DSLR photography. I bought a really nicely cared for Nikon D70 with kit lens on eBay (just received it last week) and decided the day that I got it that I'd like a Macro lens to get some closeup nature and wildlife (mostly birds) shots. I got what I think is a good deal on a Tamron 90 - 300mm lens, also on eBay. Now I get to play around with these things to get some experience and guage my interest to see if I want to move up to a better camera and / or lens. So far I'm happy with the equipment I have and now I am joining this site to learn from others to increase my skill and knowledge in a new, fun hobby.
