New Lens = Lots of Loons

Nice set. Have you gotten any flight shots yet?

Very nice and that's my favorite lens.

Very nice set of images. The first loon image is my favourite.

Nice set #2 my fav.Loons do fly but the common loon is around 9lbs of body weight with a wingspan of around 46 inches and with such a short wingspan they have to do a lot of flapping to support the body weight. The hardest challenge for a Loon is getting up in the air and they need a lot of runway and air wind beneath them just to get off. Basically, your not going to see one fly unless you scare the **** out of it and it has the room and winds to get off the pond, otherwise it will just swim from point A to point B.

Nice! Looking forward to a Loon in flight shot.

You know, I've been going to lakes for 30 years and have never seen a loon fly. My Dad who is have been going for 50 has never seen one either.

Ya I've only seen them fly when the been spoked on South Branch Lake Soboeis ME. So if you do get one in flight it will be special.

Nice set.#1 is my pick. Looking forward to seeing more from this lens

Oohh thats nice, looks tack sharp. And probably the best osprey shot I've seen. The way the light is falling on its face really elevates that shot.
