New Nikon D800 importing RAW files into lightroom4- HELP

Just got my D800 and I cannot import NEF files into Lightroom 4 or Photoshop Elements. I use a PC. I've read a lot of forums and found no clear answers. Lightroom basically says it doesn't support the camera's files. Is it because I have too old of versions or something else? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

The latest Lightroom 4 should support D800 NEF file. I have Lightroom 4.3 with Camera RAW 7.3 and I'm able to import NEF files just fine.

I just checked and realized I have Lightroom 3.6. So, everything I've read says 4.3 is compatible so I may just upgrade my Lightroom to the newest version. Thank you for your input.
