New photographer!

I just started taking pictures of babies with my canon rebel t1i. Well mostly just my daughter, until i can get some pratice Although i have a girl interested in bringing her daughter in for a fun shoot.... That being said...... I recently just bought some strobe lights, (3), two softboxes, also two umbrellas. It also came with a trigger that i have no idea how to use! also bought one pink and white background. i was just wandering if anyone had any tips

First off, this is the wrong sub-forum; this would more properly be posted in the Beginner's Forum near the top of the page.

Second, you're asking about software and lighting in the same breath as potential clients? STOP the bus.

Take a deep breath and start reading. Keep reading. Read your camera's manual, and then read it again. If you think you understand everything in it, read it once more just for good measure. Spend some time here, reading their excellent tutorials. Once you've got that all sorted and clear in your head, toddle on over to the Strobist Blog for some outstanding information on lighting. In between that, search terms such as "Photographic composition" "portrait lighting" portrait posing" "rule of thirds" and "golden mean".

Oh, and just at a guess, somewhere in that lighting kit, there just might be instructions that tell you how to use that radio trigger!

Considering what you have said, I'm just curious what you think that you offer that people should pay you money for?
