I don't like the shadow my glasses (and mustache) are casting, but other than that, what do you think?

I really feel like I am at the point now where my gear is limiting me. I don't say that lightly, lol, and this is the first time I have ever said that.

When I say 'my gear', I mean my lighting. I'm sure there are some tricks I still don't know (I know there are) - but all I have is a single speedlite, reflector, and whatever homemade modifiers I've made. I'm thinking it's time to throw a second light into the mix...

You should pop on a second speedy and an umbrella just to mix it up. What's that shadow on the right? Is that just the shadow you cast?

I think the one thing that bothers me is the shadow from the glasses. But I bet with some creative cloning you could make it disappear in PS.

Yeah, I think the shadow on the right is from my shoulder or arm. The shadow from the glasses bugs the **** out of me too. I tried dodging it out, but I think cloning may be easier (thanks).

Didn't expect my shirt to look so 'purple' either. I may desaturate it a bit.

You can do a LOT with a single light; that one looks like a good 1/2 - 2/3 stop over to me. Good shot other than that though.

Light looks a little hard. maybe putting a thin lamp shade to create more soft lighting. That way its not so direct?

No need to move onto two when you can't work with one man. Google Zach Arias, dude is a GENIUS with one light.

You don't allow Exif data on your shots, so not sure what your settings are, but a suggestion. Move your light source slightly above you to cut down on the casting of shadows.

I would clone out the shadow to your right or just crop it tighter.

the harsh lighting would work if you're going for some drama effect. As a regular portrait, it looks bad. It's not a bad pic but the light could be brought down a bit or make it softer
