Can you post some photos of the shots you really not happy with? The fact that you are using a digital is not likely the problem, as most digital cameras will more than match the sensitivity of most films you can purchase at the 'big stores.

A couple of 75 watt house bulbs and a work light is really not a lot of light, at what iso are you setting your camera? (Your sensor really only has it's base iso, all other iso settings on your camera is only amplifying it's output - if you were shooting raw and your camera really recorded raw data then you could do the same iso increase with a raw data reader after you download your camera.)

The Canon T2 the OP is using is a film camera.

Keith, the OP deleted his longer post, where he asked if he/she should use digital or film.

My mistake, so sorry.

Kodak 200 asa daylight film is available almost everywhere. That being said, if you have easy access to a variety of film stock then the one you choose will depend on your preferences. Keep in mind that the higher the asa then usually more the film grain is visible.

When photographing people in a formal session I 'usually' used kodak asa 64 reversal film and when photographing snapshots I liked Fugifilm asa 200. My rangefinder bodies were often loaded with asa 400 film and I usually had a small compact with asa 800 or faster black and white film.

thank you so much. i figured the longer post was a little distracting and i just focused on the biggest question brewing in my mind :)
