New to TPF and Photography

I am new to this forum and to photography it has been my passion for years but have never done anything with it till now. I enjoy taking pictures and i know i have so much to learn and so much in Photoshop to learn as well. Here are a few pictures i have taken recently. Fell free to critique i would love any feedback negative and positive anything to make me better.

You've got a great story in that photo. But it's soft all over. A bit of shallow DOF combined with a tad of motion blur.

A tighter crop to eliminate the 2x4 on the right would help to keep the eyes from wondering, IMHO.
