Newbie seeking advice

This is a poor attempt to capture a beautiful red sunset. Any ideas why it is so washed out. I took a spot reading on the brightest part of the sky yet it still didn't capture the redness that was seen that night.

Guess the assistance will have to start earlier than I thought. I see the photo when I look at the thread.

i think it's b/c your host doesn't allow hot linking. i can see the photo now (i had to copy and paste it to a new browser).

while i'm looking at this, can you tell me the specs on the shot (camera, lens, etc.)?

1.5" exposure
iso 100 Kodak film
