Newbie wanna be Pro!

Hello everyone!

I have been creeping this forum out for quite some time, and finally decided to register.

I enjoy taking pictures of all kinds of things, but particularly taking photos of women. I just love being that guy taking photos of beautiful women. I also enjoy taking pictures of scenery, and wild animals. Lately I have been just using the camera on my phone because I am a poor student, and haven't bought a new camera in YEARS (2003 I think was when I got my last camera), and the camera on my BlackBerry is better.

I don't know a whole lot about this subject though, but would like to. I know the primary difference between a P&S and a DSLR, but that's it really. I know you can put different lenses on DSLRs, but I don't know what they do. I really don't have the cash to drop on a DSLR, and was wondering if you fine folks could recommend a basic P&S to better learn on. Also, I would like to become more familiar with thing like lighting and such. Like I said, I really don't know where to start here. I see pictures some professional photographers have taken, and though "I want to be able to do that!" But now, especially being a student, I will be happy being in the realm of hobbyist.

Also, can any one recommended some good online tutorials to help me better understand whats going on.

I also have both Windows and Mac computers. I noticed many photographers are partial to Apple products, and frankly, so am I.

Umm a little creepy probably not best to start with that.

Don't focus on be a professional photographer, focus on being a good photographer.

Since you admit to knowing next to nothing about photography and you are a student I would say start by taking a photography class in school.

One hour and thirty-two minutes. Perhaps a new record. I was going to reply, but apparently he's gone...I dunno...nothing wrong with taking photos of beautiful women....as long as they KNOW you're taking the pics!!!

All the items highlighted above are very common "Trollish" or "Pervish" terms... so sorry if we offended you! Controversial topics, Pervy comments, Words with negative connotations... these are bad things in a first post!
