Nikon Users: Top 3 Lenses

I saw the thread by JamieR and it intrigued me. Since his is a Canon specific thread, I figured I'd get a Nikon one going. Great idea Jamie!


So as the title states, what are your 3 favorite lenses Nikon users? I'd get it started, but I currently only have my 18-200 but the rest will be on the way throughout this summer starting with the 70-200 f/2.8 and 24-70 f/2.8 when B&H gets it back in stock.

Of the lenses I own.

35-70 f/2.8 AF-D gets used the most.
20-35 f/2.8 AF-D second
80-200 f/2.8 AF-D (2nd gen) tie for third
105 f/2.8 AF-D tie for third

I only have 1 of those fancy AF-S lenses but its a kit lens that came with a D40x. Only camera it's been on.

Like how I stuck a 4th lens in there. :mrgreen::mrgreen: But, they do get used about the same.

Top 3 I own is easy since I only have 3

1. 35-70 f/2.8 AF-D
2. 50mm f/1.8 AF-D
3. 18-105 f/3.5-5.6 AF-S G

Coming soon is a Sigma 18-250 to replace the 18-105 however.

Lol...I've consolidated and don't even own 3 lenses anymore. My only two are

Tamron 17-50 f2.8 (love this one)
Sigma 70-300 APO (great for Macro's at f/12-f/18...not great for much else for me at least)


Top three that I'd like to own

Tamron 17-50 f2.8 (love the picture quality with the small size)
Nikon 70-200 f2.8 VR (80-200 f2.8 would make me plenty happy though)
Tamron 90mm f2.8 Di AFII (should have this within the next couple of months)

105mm f/2.8 - for macro
70-200mm f/2.8 - for general

I'd love to get my hands on a 12-24mm f/2.8, but can't seem to find one.... I guess the f/4 will have to suffice.
