Interesting subject but this picture doesn't work for me. It is maybe just my monitor, but there is not enough detail the shadows to be an informative representation of the intricate shapes in trees and there is not much of a composition in the picture, however it transmits well the feel of a dark, swampy character of that landscape.
Just my take on this.

I like it. I m glad you included some of the "knees". It is how the tree breathes in the winter.

Interesting formations. I would like to see these however in a color version, perhaps slightly desaturated.
