The last attempt failed, here is another try with 5 new frames processed in Photomatix, CS and NIK.

This is quite nice, a little contrasty for my taste, but that's the current fashion so who am I to judge?

The dark trees frame it quite well, the church, of course, is lovely. Nice subtle sky, gives a little interest without competing with the subject. This is a nice photograph.

I am confused by the reference to 5 frames, however. I am not seeing really any HDR here -- framing trees are rendered largely without detail (which I think is a pretty good treatment, to be honest) and the shadowed aread in the church are also fairly flat. Am I missing something about this scene that renders it unmanageable in a single exposure? One measure of a really good HDR is that you can't tell it's an HDR, but there's more detail than there ought to be, but I'm not seeing more detail than there ought to be, really..

Thanks for the response. It is...err was an HDR image before the conversion. Could I have gotten similar results from one frame? Perhaps.

I'm really not happy with my images of this most beautiful old church...it's such a fantastic building...I have interior shots to edit, hopefully they do better justice.

I would like to see a shot one step closer to the curch, so the top of the building is visible... As for the HDR result, you can get similar results from Silver Effects Pro 2 from a single frame. in fact, if you use the High Structure option, probably the sky will become even MORE dramatic than here.

Much cleaner representation of that church. Contrasty it is, the windows seems to reach zone 9-10 which might be caused by specific angle of the sun rays, but then that would be glare and maybe a polarizer should be used. More important, maybe is it my, but all the vertical lines on the church seems to be oblique.

I noticed that when editing, it could be due to my edit of the fact the church is almost 300 years old and suffered through a large quake in the 1800?
