I think it was a very small Black Hole. They come and go, you know. And that would explain the fact that the mark seems to have disappeared at the flower bed. Yup, Black Hole for sure.

Looks like something was crawling...or slithering across the top. Anyhow, does the ground seem raised along the path? Moles will tunnel just below the surface looking for grubs that are feeding on your lawn. So it's easy to sop their tunnels due to the raise earth along the path.
