People Photos - C & C Appreciated

Again.. not attacking! Just wondering why you are so negative about the more experienced people around here? Also wondering why you choose to reinforce so much bad photography rather than trying to help correct it?

While I am not an expert and while I am not trying to defend my photos here because for all I know they might be crap, I am surprised. Rather than commenting on the actual photos you spent two paragraphs commenting on someone's opinions. From what I understand photography is a rather subjective thing and I have met plenty of people that do call themselves professionals and just bought a camera last week. The poster may have been referring to that?

While I and all other beginners very much appreciate being told where we go wrong (please don't stop) it is also helpful to get positive feedback on the parts we are doing right. It has taken me months to finally post something and I know that makes me a bit of a wuss! :blushing:

Thanks everyone for taking the time to give your opinions, really appreciate the pointers etc. Really impressed with this forum. :heart:

I am NOT a pro.. haven't shot professionally in a long time. However I do disagree with a lot of the comments where you are gushing over amatuerish work, saying it is better than the "pros" and reinforcing the way it was shot, rather than making accurate assessments and attempting to help the OP correct the issues. Not attacking you.. just wondering what is up with this.

You hardly ever / never post shots yourself, describe yourself as an amateur on your "Blog", and yet you always have an opinion on everything. The trouble is that your opinion is almost always totally opposite of everyone else's (mostly those with 30 or 40 years of experience in photography)... but since you are complimenting the OP's "work", guess who the OP listens too? That is neither good for the OP, nor does it lend any real credibility to you.

I think it has to do with different ways of looking at images.

A primarily artistic photographer looks at images from a primarily artistic perspective, and a professional photographer looks at images from a primarily professional perspective (IE: Would I give these to my client?)

The two views don't always coincide.

I love the second one. And I don't mind the horizontal perspective. It might not be the most orthodox composition, but I don't see anything wrong with that in regards to this image.

Yeah, probably. PM me if you're interested. I get the "where is YOUR work" thing pretty often too, which is odd on several levels. What does my photography have to do with my ability to comment on photography? Also, 30 seconds with google would find you plenty of my photographs, if you were actually interested, which leads me to believe that you're not actually.

rexobobcat has basically read my mind here, and explained exactly what I would have if I was going to take the time. I realize that saying "pros" in quotes sounds pretty dismissive, sorry about that. I mean, I am dismissive of plenty of TPF regulars, but in that particular instance I wasn't trying to be dismissive of all the "pros" I was trying, without success, to compress the above into 6 characters.
