Petunias...feedback please!

Inspired by some of the dewey flower pics posted on here, I tried to take some, myself. I think they turned out OK, but I didn't get any that I really liked. This was the best of the bunch, I think. What could I have done to make this a better picture? There has been some minor PS done...a little bump on the contrast and saturation. Let me know what you think!!!

I like it. The background is a little wonky though, I think the dark background at the bottom of the image contrast well with the fuchia color of the flowers. The white part is not as striking. I would tried a piece of black foam core or a black backdrop. But that is just my opinion, or at least thats what the voices in my head tell me.

Ok, really though.. the picture is nice.. it is clear but yeah... I'm not sure what to do about the distracting background other than maybe a shorter DOF?

I like it. I would agree that the top half would be better with a darker background.

Gotta agree with everyone else, the colors are great but the background spoils it.

Boring reply here, but those were my very thoughts even before I read everyone else's answer:

A good means to make this an even better photo would be a better (darker!) background.

Otherwise it is very crisp and the colours of the petunias are nice. Only against the white.... well, but that has been said about a thousand (or five?) times by now...

Thanks for the feedback! I tried to figure out a way to do a little PS to the white background...to make it not so...distracting, I guess...but I couldn't really do it and still have it look natural. Oh, well. I'm new at it.

My suggestion is to slip a piece of black foam core behind the plants and reshoot it if possible. You can get colored foam core at crafts stores. I have a sheet that is black on one side and white on the other. Could be rather useful if you intend to do flowers.
