photographing water drops

Most of those were most likely taken with a dedicated macro lens, and PERHAPS an constant lighting source. I say that since it would be SIGNIFICANTLY easier to simply fire off a few dozen or so shots, than to try and time the "splash" to get something workable.

Although never underestimate an individuals willingness to mire themselves in repetition.

And I was going to say that "software" is meaningless for those shots, but on closer inspection graphics work has definitely been done to a quite a few (if not all) of them.

You might have a look at Martin Waugh Father, engineer, artist, I have a few articles there about my technique. In a nutshell, it is typical high-speed photography with a short-duration flash, electronic timer, and photogate. (There are myriad variations depending on the specific shot).

And, there is very little "Photoshopping" done. But there are many mistakes.

Best of luck,

Martin
