100% SquareSpace.com is your best bet.... it will do everything from basic templates all the way up to custom script, but even if you know nothing about building a website they make is easy to take a basic template and customize it. They have different packages, the one you would want for a photo blog with custom domain name would be $13 a month. but there are lots of promo codes that will get you 15% off that. According to my opinion the photographers should made their blogs about the photography on bloggerspot which is a free program of Google that provides the facility to make blogs of any kind.

I was on blogspot for a long time, but I really prefer wordpress. It has more functionality and it lets me customize more.

Blogger is perfectly adequate for photo blogging. I have just started blogging and is mightly encouraging me to think of what else to explore and show.

Another vote for wordpress, my site is a simple wordpress site w/ the nextgen gallery plugin for pages w/ multiple images. Works very well, and is simple to use.

I use wordpress and a theme from elegantthemes.com.

Check out my site in my sig. I did a ton of customization. I really didn't want it to look like every other wedding shooter site.

I would recommend starting your own url as you wanted. There is easy to learn basic software avail that you basically plug in your images and text and post to your website. I loved Microsoft frontpage when it was around years ago, but check the search engine. A lot more learning than doing a simple blog, but could be worth it for what you want to do.

You could host your own images, create specialty pages, special image type pages, how to and even include a small forum for you readers to post to.
