Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I just found that I have a copy of PS Elements 3.0, and was wondering if I should use it or Gimp? I shoot RAW (NEF) and also was wondering if Elements supports NEF?

Thanks for the Google. LOL. Ok so the next question, is there any loss of quality in the conversion process. I see that they say some Meta data like Active D-Lighting and Picture control will be lost.

That was the best I could find when I did google it. Hoping someone can answer it here. Thanks for your help.

GIMP can't open Raw files.

Nikon NX2 can handle the proprietary features like D-lighting and picture Controls, but Adobe doesn't have access to that Nikon trade secret information.

The current release of Elements is 9 so Elements 3 likely won't be able to open your D3100 .NEF files.

You won't lose any image quality converting to DNG. That's still a raw format. With Elements 3, get the free layer-mask add on (Google). You need to work in layers, and masks are an essential part of that.
