What's new

Pixelated photos once uploaded to website.

WHY in the name of all that's unholy would you even consider using Wix for a business website?????? Get a crowbar, pry open your wallet, and once the moths have finished screaming from the sudden blast of daylight, take out the <$100 for your own domain and a year's hosting. Any reputable hosting service will let you do what you want, how you want and your images will look just fine.

That said, you need to bear in mind that screen resolution and print resolution are two vastly different things. For w head-shot on a website for your purposes, the absolute largest I can conceive of it needing to bee would be 800x600 and between 72 and 100 PPI. Anything larger is going to be a waste of system resources and cause long load times for potential clients.

Hello everyone,
Hopefully I am posting this in the correct section and hopefully this is something I am just doing wrong with exporting. I am trying to put some of my head-shots onto my website and with one particular picture it gets very pixelated once I view my website. The file itself is 13.1 MB when exported and I am using WIX to create my website. I realize this could be a problem with WIX itself but I assume a lot of photographers use WIX when creating their business websites.

Thank you!
Hello everyone, I’ve landed on this blog because I have run into trouble with Picture Quality on Wix as well. Not so much on the main pages, but recently I did on of my first studio photo shoot, using a dark background. After selection and careful editing I was ready to share them with my client. I had chosen Wix, for the ease of creation option for your website and added options for a start-up business / hobby to sell you images and gifts. It also offered the option of secured albums to share directly with your clients. (Luckily for me, this was my niece, so I had secondary options to show her the result.) The reason I say lucky, is because some of the high resolution images I uploaded showed some significant distortion. Especially in the darker background area. On the original image this is blurred a little due to the large aperture I was shooting with, but on Wix this caused like a rainbow effect to appear in the grey scale. Like half round bands of grey to black from the lighter area just behind the model to the darkest area in the corners. Not every image shows this distortion, and in some it is more evident then others. Especially when viewing full screen on my 27” Mac, it is really visible. I don’t have the option to upload lower resolution images, with the professional package I signed up for with Wix for 250$, I was planning for my clients to order digital or printed copies directly from my website. But who is going to pay for an image that looks poorly...? I’ve been in contact with Wix support. They recently told me they had improved their Album software... but to me it still looks the same. I just done a second shoot with some kittens from a friend of mine. Here the background is beige or pink... And on the beige images I agin noted some slight color banding like a rainbow. I’m sure you and I are not the only one’s and I love to hear from other users that have issues with Wix image quality in their photo albums. Since I made a large investment in using Wix professional pack, I’ll keep writing to them for support, but just to let you know this has been an on going issue since August this year. If anyone can recommend other websites where I can share personal password protected albums with my clients and offer direct sales through the same site, please let me know. Regards,
Leon Hazenoot from LightHuesPhotography
