On a side note, if more people were like you folks there would be no issue. I appreciate you making me feel welcome regardless of my learning stage!

Actually most of the people around here are. A few hard-cases, true, but all-in-all a very good bunch of people to be associated with.

Speak for yourself, Scott. I for one intend to be condescending, sarcastic and generally hostile to this greenhorn.

Which is surprising to me.

As far as I can tell, you've got nothing to be condescending about. :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Wow, this thread was a lot of awesome. I hope he sticks around. I was the same in 2008 when I joined. I didn't know how to take criticism well. I left for about a month if I remember correctly. I ended up coming back and may not be the biggest poster but try to learn and be helpful all the same.

To be completely honest, Rocketman, not only has this place improved my photography skills (not that they're much yet still but tons better than when I first started) it has helped me to deal with the analog world much better as well. Handling critiques here and growing a thick-skin has allowed me to do the same outside of here. People don't bother me much anymore, I'm able to stop and assess situations better (that's what you have to do when taking a photo).

I'm a better person because of TPF (rather the people of TPF). Thank you so much everyone and I hope Rocketman reconsiders leaving. Don't want to sound like we're a cult and you can't leave but TPF is better with participation of all level photographers. People get to learn how to teach properly, people learn how to learn. This place benefits all who stick with it.

I joined at the tail end of a mass exodus due to the closing of the nekkid forum and found it very clique-ish. Like, if you weren't one of the 10 popular members you could kiss any help goodbye. One member mentioned another forum and I found myself spending a few months there before coming back. I can tell ya, it's not nearly as a-holeish as it was even a year ago. And yes, I fully admit I sometimes play the reindeer games.

Just as a side note. When I first joined this forum (not too long ago) I posted a couple of pictures I was pretty proud of. I considered myself a decent photographer with 40 years of experience. Imagine my surprise when I got quite a bit of criticism and critique that I was not expecting. I decided this wasn't the place for me; but I thought better of it and decided to use the information here to improve my skills. I believe I've grown as a photographer as a result of being involved here. This isn't the place to get pats on the back over your kids pictures, but it's a great place to learn the skills you need to take better pictures; no matter what your present skill level is.

Wow..I could have written that except there would have been a lot of typo's :lmao:

Hang in there rocketman, there's a lot of good folks here.

Man, that makes my day.
What a thrill to know that we, and by deduction I, aren't nearly as a-hole-ish.

Kinda makes me want to cry.

Hey, Honey.

Someone just said I'm not so a-hole-ish!!

What did you mutter just then?
