Hi all I'm new to this; have attached a photo I done a self portrait. Had my first portrait shoot of someone else last night, it was only my other halfs little sister but I felt very useless and not confident at all!! Really put myself off and the photos weren't great

will attach photos of it once iv put them onto my laptop!

Background is a little busy, and the top of the head's cut off. I care about head-chopping less than most anybody else, but in this case the way the hair is done it looks like it COULD go up another foot. If the hairstyle was different, I probably wouldn't mind at all.

The light's quite nice (slightly harsh, but well handled) and the subject is very pretty. Nice pose.

The highlights in the hair are blown out, mostly, but there's enough detail remaining to carry it, I think. I got no problem with that, but it's possible some other commenter will.

Basically: Well done! A few modest quibbles and points of improvement possible.

Hey pat yourself on the back for hoping in. Write down all the things you think you did wrong and see where you can learn and improve. I find I grow greatly when I make mistakes. There are several books on self portraits that are great. Also use some of the information on here as inspiration. Sometimes the responses are harsh but for the most part there are great people on here with tons of info.

I applaud you for hoping in and look forward to seeing you grow.
