These are some of the portraits I took of my niece... She is so photogenic and loves to have her picture taken. This was my very first time working with flash during the daylight.

NEXT STOP - Shooting against the sun

First shot should have been in portrait format, and framed a little tighter. Also, your model's hair is over her eye, so when shooting, ask the model to reposition, either by moving around the tree more to the back, or lift her head more toward the camera. Remember; the model often doesn't know what all is in the viewfinder, but you do.

Second shot is an example of the reason why some portraits are good in horizontal format. Too bad your model isn't smiling here. Also, watch your background because you have a tree "growing out of her head".
