Hi all,

Question on media types and their finished look.

In the past I've had Alpha Graphics print some large format pictures on photographic paper with pearl finish then mount it on Gatorfoam...they looked great!

I'm now interested in doing a few more however, Alpha Graphics (different state) is suggesting printing on a "vinyl adhesive material" and then attaching it to the Gatorfoam.

Question is: does anyone have experience with the two different media types and, can you shed some light on the results?

I'd go look at some examples in person but I just so happened to be at a remote location ... too far to just go have a look.

Thoughts?

Depends on what vinyl they are going to use. Some are glossy, some flat, some are thicker than others. But it wont' look the same as photo paper-- especially not pearl. Ask them to send you a sample.

A lot of the el cheapo 'canvas' prints are actually prints made on a type of vinyl textured to mimic cotton canvas.

So you're gonna need to be a bit more specific on what type of vinyl you're asking about.

Thank you both for the info.

Cheers.
