Hi all,
As my tag say, I'm a completely newbie to photography but it's something that's growing on me and hopefully someday I'll be able to help the newbies too ;)... meanwhile, I would appreciate some words from you guys regarding the use of a telephoto lens.
I was taking some picture of the sunset here in Sydney yesterday, and although the viewfind showed me an awesome picture, I was very disappointed with the final result.

Notice that the bottom part of the sky (that should be blue) is not exactly blue.

I just don't know if this is a lens issue, or if it's an expected color distortion. Can you please share your thoughts?

Thank you, and hopefully this will be the first of many post to come!

It seems that the picture adjusted exposure and possibly WB when you zoomed in, which is why it appears darker and to be a different color. What mode were you shooting in? Could you post the EXIF data?

Yes, the first think to check is the exposure. If you used a different exposure setting, then the color will surely be different. Also, if you were using auto WB, it may have been different for either shot, which would certainly alter the color.

Further to that, yes, is is certainly possible that different lenses will render colors differently. It's usually not a big difference, but I'm always hearing how high quality lenses (Canon 'L' lenses for example) give better colors.
