Ran across this Brown Widow (almost literally) guarding my back porch from flying insects last night.
Instead of the typical hourglass, she was sporting an orange shield, fitting for a protector of the realm.

Thanks Dean, last year we had a bunch of these, looks like it's time to spray again. It makes me feel bad killing them, but If my wife, myself or our pets get bit, I would feel a lot worse.

Nice pic. I just read about them. Better to get bitten by one of them than a Brown Recluse spider.
