I have to agree. No self respecting artist, in history or present, would use those pesky compositional tools.

There is a difference between implied composition and "WOOOOOOOO LEADING LINES!!!! THIRDS!!!! FIFTHS!!!!!!!" type of composition. If the first thing you notice in an image the composition, then the composition doesn't work. Composition for composition's sake is "oh so 20th century".
