Photos NOT OK to edit
Hi

I got my sb-28dx in from ebay today. I hooked it up to my d40x and it didnt "meter" if that what you call it. Like it wouldnt automaticly pickup the setting i had on my camera. I read somewhere that it will will only work on AF lenses, this true? Its not to much of a big deal becuase i was planning on using this primaryly as an off camera flash triggered by cactus V2's that would eliminate this feauture anyway(i think) So does anyone use a similar flash on a D40/D40x?

The DX series flashes were D-TTL. The newer Nikon DSLR's use a system called I-TTL. The D-TTL cameras were the D1 series, D1, D1H and D1X. The flash should work in the old Auto mode. The flash should tell you what aperture and shutter speed to set (typically 1/60th) and the flash will work reasonable well using a sensor on the flashes front.
