I'd probably have a problem with "you have a good one" and "yeah" instead of yes also. Professionalism. She is in a position that proper etiquette is required. Unless you want to project an image of not caring about the details... If the OP is working in design? The details are pretty important. I know they aren't related in any way... It's the image you project and that person on the phone is the first impression.
The biggest tell in this situation is are the customers she speaking with on the phone complaining or asking to talk to someone else? It might irritate the guy sitting in the same room who has to listen to it all day, but the customer who calls and only hears her for 20 seconds might not pay any attention to it.
Thank you MleeK, that's exactly it. Professionalism. If it were my company, that's not the image I would want to project. 'I'll transfer ya...' just sounds so unprofessional to me. I doubt that people are complaining about it but it seems like they would at least notice it. Hard to say.....
That being said......She's leaving in a month!!! woohoo!
It may be because the previous girl that worked here was fantastic. Very professional, friendly, courteous....the whole package. So going from that to this is a tough transition. I can definitely put up with if for a month knowing that there will be an end to it
