I agree on the square crop on this one.

I think the arms are what bother me about the original.

overall its nice, but i think i would try dialing the black down just a bit, or bring up the shadows just a bit to bring a little more detail to your hair, which almost blends into the black background.

Well, where's the grunge cap? You need some old wrinkled baseball cap or something to give more weight to the top. (Don't shade your face, though.)

The thing about the first one is your tee shirt below your arms is demanding undue attention. Crop just below your arms.

The second crop is way too tight and off center for no apparent reason. When a shot is straight on, with nothing happening to either side, the portrait should be centered. So ease up on the tightness and re-center your image.
