Hello!

So I used this new technique for making the background black (settings to black without flash, then add flash), practiced some of my stellar modeling, and tried out some different Lightroom 5 presets. Would love to hear what you think! Thoughts and C&C welcome.

(These last two are just for Mishele)

Thanks! :)

They seem underexposed to me. The 5th and 6th are better but I think they would have been better if you'd turned a little so your shoulder wasn't so far forward in the shot.
You've almost completely lost your eyes in the last two and in a shot like that, I think they should be the focal point.

The flash to the left is lighting you well but it is a bit dark, If I were you I would place another flash behind me for the rim light effect and may bring your images together better.

Thanks for the tips! I was using a reflector but I probably didn't have it high enough.

Any other thoughts?

I actually like the last ones best (even if they are just for Mishy). . . but delete that blue one and never do that again :)

Hahahaha, is it too artsy?

Nah, not too artsy, just too much.

Of all of them, I prefer the first pose, and of those three with that pose, the last one is the best. There's something behind you on the left side of the frame behind your neck that is a bit distracting in the b&w. The middle one is a bit underexposed but otherwise I like the effect and the background. The third has the best lighting.

Overall, the b&w conversions don't really work for me. They seem a bit flat. Oh and try that straight-on 'fierce' pose without your glasses next time.
