People do desperately want photography to be a matter of opinion because then it means that their bad choices ate defensible, but it's very often not correct.

If the person in question here had said "I like it better!" then that would be another thing entirely, but what they did is say "oh it's ok! It breaks the rules and that works here!". That's really just ignorance packaged and sold as wisdom and it bugs the crap out of me when people do it.

But by all means, if you want to defend his right to his opinion, feel free. You can get in line with people whose opinions include cutting holes in people's heads to let the demons out, reading bumps on skulls to determine your fate and sacrificing goats to bring the rains.
