Just ordered one instead of the nikon. I borrowed one from my local dealer to try and was mighty impressed by its crispness and bokeh, but especially the price. Almost half the nikon cost and I don't see why. Okay, it doesn't have image stabilisation but I can live with that if I'm saving £2000!
I hope.....

Nothing wrong with 3rd party.
Only caveat being to be sure and test throughly during return/exchange period.
As there will be more variations of the cheaper 3rd party equivalents.
But can be just as good as the more expensive OEM versions.

Strange as just saw in today craiglist same lens here in Portland,Ore.
Going for $2000 which equates to about £1300 used.
But way out of my Dr. Suess Savings Tin capacity! :er:
