hey guys!!! i need your help, i wana buy multipurpose lens like 18-200mm, so i dont haveto change lens everytime. Canon have 18-200IS but its almost 700$...and then i found sigma 18-200OS its 370 new and used like 300-280(ebay), so i read some reviews on websites and half people was sayin about bad quality, that they were sending those lenses back for repair , is anyone had some experience with sigmas???? i really dont wana pay 700$ for canon...i like sigma prices, especialy if il get used for 300$ that would perfect! but i dont know after i read so many people not happy about quality build....plz help!!!! (and sorry for my english:blushing:)

Sigma make some good products, but they frequently seem to have quality-control issues. It's common for two identical lenses to have a wide variation in quality and results. If there are a lot of negative, or even neutral reviews of a particular product, I would stay away from it. You might want to consider Tokina and Tamron, the other two large, third-party lens manufacturers.

thanks for replys , i guess il do some more research on those lenses and decide wich one to buy .....Tamron sigma tokina they all proly same quality

my friend told me he can sell me his 18-135IS that came with his 50D or 7D i dont remember wich camera he told me...well anyway he wants 250$ .........so am think sigma 18-200mmOS(300 used) or canon 18-135IS (250 ) ...now i dont know if 135 is enough for me, what you guys think?

Tamron is really good to and some of there super zoom like those have recieved top reviews. I never use those kinds of lenses but I have owned a number of Tamron and find them to be among my favorite lenses.

I think the Canon lens is not 18-135, it is 28-135mm IS instead. And $250 for that lens is a fair price. But 28mm maybe not be wide enough, at least for me.

As for the superzoom lens, from what I read from those technical review sites, the 18-200mm OS lens from Sigma is not as good as their newer version of 18-250mm lens in terms of optical quality.

idk how comparible the two are, but I have the Sigma 18-250mm for Nikon and it performs very well. Sharp, great contrast, and the IS feature is great.
