skate/snow lens?

What is the best lens (in your opinion) to be used in fairly close fast action shots (such as skateboarding and snowboarding), on a Nikon N55 body?

You'll need either a shorter prime or a short range zoom with a wide aperture for the kind of shots you're talking about. A 50mm lens with an aperture of f/2 or wider would be a good choice, or if you can afford the scratch, get a Nikkor 28-70mm f/2.8 IF-ED. It's expensive, but what a lens!
