I rarely ever retouch my photos in that way but here's my attempt:

You may, but for most who haven't been there, I think the more artistically pleasing edit makes for a stronger image. Now, if you're shooting photo-journalism, sure, leave the poles in, but purely for the sake of art? I'll take sans poles all day long thankyewverymuch!

The catch is outstanding regardless of any retouch, but I prefer the one with poles removed.
