Seems like there would be a million people that look just like him. I think of a typical model to have a feature or SOMETHING about them that stands out. However if you are looking for someone to blend in, I think he will do just fine.

He looks severely intense, even without the inclusion of the wringing hands. It's an interesting shot. I'd like to see some photos of him in other, less threatening, poses.

Are both eyes in focus? I can't tell.

Yep, both eyes are sharp; he wanted an "intense" look, but didn't really know what that was...

Perhaps he could have recalled a personally intense situation from memory with some engagement on your part. I don't know what else to suggest. He appears quite young, but not too young to be unfamiliar with such situations. I'd keep working with him and see what experiences he has to draw upon.

This was the look I got when I told him to imagine he'd just walked into the school dance (he's 17 I think) and seen his girlfriend cuddling up to his best friend (of course his mother didn't help- she was in the background howling with laughter!).

I think what he was thinking was, "I wanna punch this @$$hole with the camera who's asking embarrasing questions in front of Mom!"

Am I seeing skin imperfections? Even male models need good skin.

As a portfolio pic, this is lacking definition in the shadow areas. Perhaps other shots will show us more. And different facial expressions. Low key lighting is fine, but a prospective employer will want to see a variety of poses, expressions, his hair, his skin, etc.

He's got some skin issues which are probably fixable with a little makeup, but he should be aware of them. A few minor spots on his face (which might serve him well as accents, though) and his elbow is also slightly blotchy as if he has some minor skin issues there.

Like others, I think he has a pretty good "look" here. There's a complete lack of styling, though, which isn't helping him any. The necklace and the bracelet are both pretty ok, but the shirt and the hair are just kind of there. Maybe the shirt is what all the kids are wearing these days, I suppose.

It looks like you were going for moody and dramatic here, which you certainly hit. The kid would have been helped out bit a touch of hair light and some visible catch light, though. You should be able to fit those in without ruining the look, I think.

Agreed, and yes you are; I did a quick touch-up on his face, but haven't done anything with his arms/hands yet.

:thumbup:This is only the first image from the shoot that I've touched, and only because this was one that he really liked. The remainder of the shoot consists of three other distinct groups of poses & lighting. I'll try and get some more up in the next week or two.
